What is mindfulness and what does it have to do with Story Hui?
Simply put.. it's
Paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, without making judgements.
Story Hui involves four important aspects of mindfulness

Story Hui involves four important aspects of mindfulness
1. Intentional Listening: Story Hui protocols enable the group to listen closely to the storyteller without judgement or intrusion
2. Visualisation: Attention to 'the present' is enhanced by visualisation of the action as the story is drawn
3. Time-Space focus: Three defined visual story spaces channel the focus through the past and into the present. The process of visually recording as the storyteller speaks functions as a scaffold for holding the story in time.
4. Inhibition: The principle of ‘inhibition’ is about refraining from responding in automatic ways. – The Story Hui protocols of timing and turn taking help to interrupt or prevent unwanted habits from occurring (advice giving, shallow listening, judgement). As these habits are contained, the group experiences a freer capacity and a greater depth of collective thought is enabled as a result of some of the things we stop doing.
